Failure mechanism of steam generator tubes inspection crawler gripper petal

Failure mechanism of nuclear power pant steam generator tubes inspection crawler gripper petal is analysed in this paper, through macroscopic, chemical composition, metallographic, hardness, scanning electron microscope and energy-spectrum examination, fracture mechanism of the gripper petal is revealed to be brittle rupture. To avoid analogous failure in the future, fatigue test and precautions are presented.
