Integrating USLE with GIS in Erosion Hazard Analysis in the Katulampa Sub-Watershed for the Ciawi and Sukamahi Dry Dam

The analysis of erosion in the Katulampa Sub-Watershed is crucial for understanding the risks posed to the Ciawi and Sukamahi Dams. Using the USLE method integrated with GIS, this study reveals significant changes in erosion rates, particularly during 2014-2015. Despite this, from 2016 to 2022, the average erosion rate remained relatively stable. Over the past 15 years, the dominance of erosion hazard classes has consistently been classified as “Very Light” (Class I). However, this should not be underestimated because the potential for severe and very severe erosion hazards still exists. The output of this research, modeling erosion hazard classes and levels in GIS applications, provides essential insights for stakeholders to implement effective strategies and preserve the optimal conditions of the dam reservoirs, thereby mitigating the adverse effects of excessive erosion.
