Abstract

Upcycling represents a transformative process converting textile waste or disused textile products into new materials or goods of equal or superior quality, while enhancing both consumer utility and environmental benefits. This study examines upcycling within the framework of textile industry sustainability through a comprehensive descriptive-analytical methodology. Current theoretical foundations are investigated via systematic literature review, incorporating analytical evaluation, comparative assessment, and observational analysis of existing scholarly works in the field. The investigation reveals substantial existing research on textile upcycling’s role in sustainable development, providing valuable insights for identifying emerging scientific trends and potential future research directions. The synthesized findings contribute to a deeper understanding of upcycling applications and their implications for sustainable textile production systems.
