How Meteorological Factors Affect the Formation and Diffusion of Atmospheric Particles: A Case Study of Beijing
University of California, Irvine, Irvine, California 92697, USA
Abstract
With the rapid economic development, the air pollution in Beijing and its surrounding areas has obvious regional and compound characteristics, and atmospheric particulate matter (especially PM2.5) is the main pollutant. By analyzing the relationship between meteorological factors and atmospheric particulate matter, this paper analyzes the source and diffusion law of PM2.5 in Beijing. Based on ground observation, satellite remote sensing data and mathematical simulation, this paper discusses the influence of meteorological factors such as temperature and humidity, air pressure system, atmospheric stability and wind field characteristics on PM2.5 concentration change. The results show that meteorological factors have a decisive influence on the concentration of PM2.5, and the low temperature and static environment easily lead to the accumulation of pollutants, while the enhancement of wind and precipitation process significantly promote the diffusion and removal of pollutants. This study provides a scientific basis for air pollution prevention and control.
Key words: meteorological factors / atmospheric particulate matter / PM2.5 / diffusion law / air pollution prevention and control
