“Biomass and Combustion” in the scientific literature
Hellenic Open University, Patras, Greece
Abstract
This paper focuses on the bibliometric analysis of the scientific works found in Scopus database when “biomass and combustion” are used as keywords. The published works were analysed based on several characteristics, for example the year of publication, the location of the research Institute, the scientific field, the affiliated Institution, the title of the source, the type of the source, the type of access and the funding sponsor. In parallel, scientific productivity when the group of keywords included the word health or the word pollution was explored and compared with the results of the initial search. The initial search resulted to the highest number of publications. The annual number of publications presented an increasing trend especially after 2000. The United States of America (USA) was the most productive country until 2015. The continuously decreasing trend of USA’s productivity resulted to China becoming the leading country after 2015. This is in fully agreement with the top affiliated Institutions which are located in China. Most of the publications, are scientific articles, related to environmental sciences, energy and engineering, and are increasingly of open access type. In conclusion the field is of high scientific interest.
