Dredged Sediments: Bibliometric Insights into Contamination and Construction Valorisation

Abstract
Dredging activities in rivers, ports, and coastal areas produce large amounts of sediments. These sediments can be reused in the construction sector as a secondary raw material, supporting resource conservation and circular economy practices. However, they may be contaminated with heavy metals or naturally occurring radioactive elements, raising concerns about their potential environmental impact.This study provides a bibliometric analysis of published research on dredged sediments. Vosviewer software was used to examine keyword relationships and the global distribution of research on dredged sediments, helping to understand how the scientific community has approached this topic. The bibliometric analysis showed that research on dredged sediments is primary focused on sediment monitoring, sustainable management and environmental aspects, while the United States and China were identified as the most productive countries in terms of scientific publication.
