sCO2 Power Plant for Industrial Waste Heat Recovery: a Case Study

Industrial facilities release a large amount of heat as a byproduct of their processes. To improve environmental performance and increase the process profitability, this waste heat can be recovered and employed to generate power. Supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) systems have emerged as potential alternatives to the well-established technologies because of their high performance, reduced footprint and low water consumption. This paper aims to investigate the techno-economic feasibility of a sCO2 closed loop for power generation coupled with heavyindustrial processes, which make flue gases available at high-temperatures (above 400 °C).
