We conducted an applicability analysis of both modern and prospective relay protection types in future 6-35 kV field circuits. We demonstrated the advantages of using new differential-logic and multi-parameter relay protection algorithms, as well as the methods for relay protection tripping parameters calculation. We developed an integration scheme for existing and prospective relay protections types to increase the sensitivity and speed of the relay protection system for SmartGrid. We suggested the main stages of implementing new relay protection types.
