Food labelling plays a crucial role in enabling consumers to make informed food choices. The objective of this study was to explore the knowledge and attitudes of students at Mohamed VI University of Health Sciences (UM6SS) towards nutrition labelling, in order to identify gaps and factors influencing their eating behaviour. A cross-sectional study was conducted during the period from March to May 2024, on a sample of 212 students recuited from UM6SS. Data on ingredients, additives and food certifications were collected using a questionnaire designed to assess knowledge and attitudes towards nutritional information. The results showed that 70.6% of the sample had difficulty understanding additives, preservatives, and certifications (DLC, SIGA, NOVA). Analysis of data on attitude showed that 56.9% of participants expressed interest in labelling, motivated by health concerns. However, 43.1% reported neglecting labels because of lack of time or insufficient understanding. The current study data revealed that a request for more detailed labelling declared by students participating in this study, including the origin of products, their allergen and additive contents. These results highlight also, a need for educational campaigns in order to improve label- reading skills by students and encourage informed food choices. Raising awareness and educating students about nutrition labelling is essential to prevent long-term health problems and promote a safe and balanced diet.
