The paper presents the main components of a methodical approach to assessing the level of significance of critical energy facilities on the example of individual outages of the most important facilities of the Russian gas transmission network. Approaches to modelling the fuel and energy complex of the country and its constituent energy systems: gas, electricity and heat supply are presented. Algorithms for identifying critical energy facilities of the industry, regional and federal levels, as well as examples of their ranking depending on the level of expected consequences for consumers of electrical and heat energy in case of loss of performance of these critical facilities are given.
