Electric motors are rechargeable products. The important point in the system of maintenance and repair of electric motors is the choice of optimal maintenance strategy. At present the most widespread is the planned preventive maintenance strategy. However, condition based maintenance is gaining in importance. In this paper, the choice of the most optimal maintenance strategy out of the above-mentioned strategies is considered. For this purpose, expressions have been developed to determine the total costs associated with these maintenance strategies for electric motors. Based on these expressions, a relationship was proposed to establish the optimal maintenance strategy. For the convenience of selection, a monogram was developed to reduce the time for selecting the optimum motor maintenance strategy.
