The research presented in this article is devoted to testing samples of plastic cladding panels with paint coating of different colors, in order to assess its technical characteristics and resistance to climatic conditions. Paint and varnish coatings form a barrier preventing the penetration of moisture and aggressive substances, thereby extending the service life of the equipment. As part of the experiment, two samples of paintwork were provided for further analysis. The test methodology included visual inspection of the objects, roughness measurement and microscopic analysis with further application of Matlab application program package. The experimental results showed that both paintwork samples changed their color. Analysis of the roughness data showed that the white sample performed slightly better, as well as when analyzing the data obtained from the microscope. Additional research and testing can be done to improve the design of the switches and increase their durability in service.
