This research investigates the pivotal role of the Suku Asli (indigenous people) spirituality in Karimun Regency of Riau Island Province as a pertinent factor in sustainable development within coastal regions. The study aims to identify the multifaceted contributions of these traditions and rituals to sustainable development practices, as well as their ramifications on local communities. Employing a comprehensive methodology involving field surveys, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, the findings reveal that the Suku Asli spirituality that lies in their traditions and rituals exerts a positive influence in fostering environmental awareness, preserving local traditions, and actively engaging communities in sustainable development efforts. The primary finding underscores that incorporating spiritual values and practices into coastal development plans can enhance the effectiveness of sustainable development endeavours. Therefore, stakeholders should consider this approach when formulating comprehensive and sustainable development policy.
