The article discusses some economic and legal problems of the introduction of green technologies. It is noted that the greening of the economy is the next stage of the centuries-old mankind’s struggle to improve the natural environment. Agreeing with the importance of the Green Economy project, the authors state the fact that it does not correspond to the opinion of representatives of natural sciences. The authors prove that the concept of sustainable society development contradicts the nature of the market economic system, which is characterized by periodic changes in technological and world economic structures. As a result of the analysis of regulatory and program acts, as well as doctrinal research, the work revealed typical mistakes of supporters of this “green” economy theory, in particular, the presence of a huge number of documents containing non-coinciding goals and criteria for recognizing the economy as “green”. The role of the green economy as a way to improve the state of the environment is often exaggerated. The attitude of the leadership of the Russian Federation to the “green” economy project is assessed, the conflict on understanding the meaning of the term “green” economy by the Russian leadership and representatives of the countries, which stand for the center of the world economy, as well as some international organizations is revealed.
