This article systematically reviews recent advancements in the use of aspirin for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, highlighting its ongoing exploration of new pharmacological activities. Initially, the review details the pharmacological activities and associated drug toxicities of aspirin, followed by an overview of its clinical applications in recent years. Through methods such as literature review and comparative data analysis, this study evaluates the efficacy and safety of three types of aspirin derivatives: nitric oxide aspirin derivatives, hydrogen sulfide-nitric oxide derivatives, and unsaturated fatty acid aspirin derivatives. The review emphasizes their potential in reducing toxic side effects. Additionally, the latest clinical research is examined to elucidate the effects and mechanisms of these drugs in clinical settings. The article concludes by summarizing the current risks associated with aspirin derivatives in cardiovascular disease research and suggests possible future research directions.
