Addressing the challenge of high dust concentrations and difficult prevention measures in fully mechanized mining faces with significant mining heights, researchers focused on the 12 mining face of a coal mine. They conducted a study on the distribution patterns of wind speed and exhaled dust concentration in both the upwind and downwind directions during coal cutting. Based on their findings, the study identified key areas for dust prevention and control in such high-mining-height faces, as well as effective treatment methods. Subsequently, a comprehensive dust suppression system was developed, combining spray dust suppression with airborne dust collector technology. Testing revealed that this system achieved dust suppression efficiencies of 91.3% and 92.3% at the driver’s position and 15 meters behind the shearer’s fuselage, respectively. This significant improvement underscores the effectiveness of the proposed dust suppression measures in addressing the dust problem in large mining height fully mechanized faces.
