The article provides an analysis of materials concerning the use of transboundary rivers in Central Asia related to the creation of artificial reservoirs in mountainous areas. An assessment of the prevention of possible breakthroughs of dams and earthen dams formed in mountain riverbeds is given, and the possibility of using water from artificial small local reservoirs for energy and irrigation needs is assessed. The climatic, geographical and demographic conditions of Uzbekistan require the development of a water management system.
