Driven by the “dual carbon” goals, energy storage technology, as a key measure to promote energy transformation and ensure the stable operation of the power system, has received increasing attention. Due to its abundant renewable energy resources and vast land resources, Inner Mongolia has become a key area for the development of energy storage technology. This paper summarizes the current research status and future prospects of energy storage technology in Inner Mongolia, with a particular focus on the development of pumped storage and electrochemical energy storage technologies.
