Abstract
Surabaya Zoo is a major conservation and tourism destination in East Java, serving both recreational and educational purposes. However, the current Environmental Graphic Design (EGD), especially its signage system, lacks visual integration, legibility, and coherence. This limits its educational and navigational effectiveness. This study applies a descriptive qualitative approach to redesign the EGD system using data collected from interviews, observations, and documentation. The proposed design adopts an edutainment concept, combining education and entertainment to enhance visitor experience. The improved EGD is expected to facilitate spatial orientation, strengthen branding, and support Surabaya Zoo’s role as an educational and sustainable urban tourism site.
