This paper presents the design and implementation of a solar power system for rooftop farming in a building located in Tangerang, Indonesia. The design process utilized free resources such as Google Maps, Solar Edge Designer, and Global Solar Atlas to determine site’s solar irradiation. The data was subsequently fed into own-developed UPH Off-Grid Solar Calculator to get required equipment’s specifications. The system was implemented and monitored through cloud using IoT-based data logger. The logs were then analyzed and visualized through a dashboard developed using Ms. Power BI. Observations of the results showed a stable system with adaptive energy production averaging 1.6 kWh daily, sufficient to meet average daily loads of 0.9 kWh for 2 hydroponic systems and 1 aquaponic system during local rainy season. The system has capacity for future expansion to support loads up to 3.84 kWh daily. The solar power system reduces carbon emissions by 313.7 kg per year compared to the use of coal-based grid power for existing rooftop farming system.
