Based on the data of 30 provinces in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Tibet) from 2012 to 2022, this study employs the super-efficiency SBM (Slack-Based Measure) comprehensive measurement method to calculate the dynamic efficiency of sustainable innovation. Furthermore, spatial analysis methods reveal the laws of its spatial-temporal evolution characteristics. The results show that: (1) Sustainable innovation dynamic efficiency has steadily increased year by year, with regional disparities continuously narrowing. (2) The spatial pattern has evolved from a unipolar dominant structure to a balanced, multi-centered networked configuration. (3) The dynamic efficiency of sustainable innovation exhibits obvious club convergence characteristics in terms of internal transfer, and the efficiency level of adjacent regions significantly affects the direction of local efficiency leapfrogging through spillover effects.
