Indonesia’s rapid economic growth and accelerating urbanization have significantly increased the demand for sustainable infrastructure development. Yet, achieving true sustainability remains complex, influenced by intertwined environmental, economic, social, and governance factors. This study identifies and analyzes the key determinants shaping infrastructure sustainability in Indonesia, focusing on policy frameworks, financial mechanisms, technological innovation, and environmental challenges. By reviewing major infrastructure projects and their long-term outcomes, the research underscores the critical roles of government regulations, private sector engagement, and community participation in fostering resilient development. The analysis reveals that although Indonesia has made notable progress in integrating sustainability principles, persistent issues such as limited funding capacity, policy inconsistency, and environmental degradation continue to hinder optimal outcomes. Moreover, the study finds that underutilized or inefficiently managed urban spaces have contributed to a 15% reduction in the expected benefits of technological advancement by 2024. To overcome these barriers, the research emphasizes the necessity of integrated planning, cross-sectoral coordination, adoption of green technologies, and the strengthening of governance mechanisms. Collectively, these strategies are vital for ensuring that Indonesia’s infrastructure development not only meets current needs but also supports long-term environmental integrity, economic resilience, and social equity in alignment with global sustainability goals.
