The agricultural sector, traditionally the foundation of the regional economy, faces increasing challenges within the ever-evolving economic dynamics of Banyumas Regency. This research aims to identify and analyze the position, growth potential, and contribution of the agricultural sector to the regional economy. The study employs three analytical methods: Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Klassen Typology. The results indicate that the agricultural sector is not a leading sector in Banyumas Regency, with an LQ value of 0.888 and a projected DLQ value of 0.776, suggesting it will remain non-dominant in the future. In contrast, the mining and quarrying sector emerges as the dominant sector with an LQ of 2.245 and a DLQ of 1.875. According to Klassen's Typology, the agricultural sector falls within Quadrant IV (relatively underdeveloped), exhibiting a growth rate of 1.16% and contribution of 10.96%, both below the Central Java Province average. The decline in the agricultural sector's role is attributed to multiple factors, including agricultural land conversion, low productivity, declining youth interest in farming, climate change impacts, inadequate infrastructure, and marketing difficulties. These findings have important implications for regional policy-making and the need for strategic interventions to revitalize the agricultural sector.
