The purpose of this study is to analyze the framing of local online news media on environmental sector policies in Riau Province. This research method uses a qualitative-exploratory approach, where data collection is based on secondary data, including journal articles, books, and local online news media. The researcher then used thematic analysis techniques using NVivo 12 Plus to help map the data and answer the research objectives. The main findings of this study indicate that media framing on environmental sector policy issues in Riau Province is dominated by the element of "handling recommendations". This is followed by the elements of "problem definition", "moral judgment", and "case diagnosis". Essentially, the framing of local online news media on environmental sector policy issues in Riau Province has reflected a strong correlation between the issues of "waste management governance", "forest and land fire management governance", and "flood management governance". This study emphasizes the importance of improving the role and contribution of local online news media in framing environmental sector policy issues in Riau Province by presenting a more balanced message between the urgency of collective action and providing a more comprehensive perspective on action.
