This article looks at how traditional building materials can be combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM) to support the conservation of historic architecture. Due to its effectiveness, heritage preservation application is on the rise. This study looks at how BIM can be changed to suit older buildings that need to maintain their cultural aspect and architecture. A key focus of the research is the manner in which BIM can physically depict and manage data related to ‘traditional materials’, assessing the potential to assist teams to document, monitor and assess the condition of heritage sites over time. The article highlights how important it is for architects, historians, engineers and other experts to work together so that modern technology and traditional know-how are respected. BIM can facilitate informed choices that will curtail any possible overzealous or misguided innovation. It can help achieve the balance between innovation and preservation. BIM will ultimately ensure the originality of the design in restoration work. Concluding there is room and scope for digital tools in heritage conservation and evokes better integration.
