Integrating Renewable Energy into Fashion: Design Innovation of Solar-Powered Travelling Wear

Abstract
Human mobility is currently undergoing an extreme digital transformation, with travel-related activities being among the most affected. Consequently, the integration of renewable energy sources into travel wear can have a significant impact on energy consumption patterns and promote sustainable living. This integration presents its own challenges; therefore, this study was conducted to design and evaluate travel clothing integrated with solar panels. The respondents in this study consisted of 78 travellers in Indonesia who were surveyed online. The design development process produced ten alternative designs, from which three of the best options were selected for further implementation in several prototypes. These results are expected to serve as an alternative approach to increasing the use of renewable energy in daily human activities. The travel wear designs focus on the integration of functional, practical, and economical renewable energy solutions without compromising travel comfort.
