Abstract
This study presents the results of drinking water purification using pressure-driven membrane processes – reverse osmosis and nanofiltration. Comparative results of specific permeability and selectivity of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration in the separation of raw groundwater are shown. The advantages of the nanofiltration method over reverse osmosis are shown, which are expressed in high process productivity, low energy consumption by the pump, and no need to enrich the purified water with minerals necessary for the human body. The use of nanofiltration plants is recommended to bring the quality of source water with a salt content of no more than 1350–1400 mg/l up to drinking standards without preliminary experiments and research.
