Abstract
With the growing importance of the need for sustainable resource use, green development is no longer the exclusive domain of environmental policy makers. The purpose of this study is to analyze the aspects of the natural resource management experience that are affected by engineering creativity and green accounting practices. Data were collected from secondary datasets that were sent to international statistical repositories and were analyzed using quantitative analytical techniques. The analytic hierarchy process method and the propensity score matching method, respectively, were used for estimating the relative contribution of those practices. The results show that engineering creativity and green accounting implementation contributed to the variation of sustainable resource management activities by a significant proportion, while the remaining was explained by other contextual factors, such as institutional quality, governance effectiveness, economic structure, and resource endowment with some degree of heterogeneity. The main contributions and implications of this study include: to comprehensively examine the green accounting development from two aspects, namely, decision infrastructure and engineering creativity; to identify the impact of engineering creativity intensity of the green accounting elements; to demonstrate and determine the extent of its impact on the development trajectory of natural resource sector and carry out robust validation through empirical research on each indicator; to provide policy-relevant guidance for each of the stakeholders. The overall results show that institutional and decision-related factors, namely governance effectiveness, accounting maturity, decision-making effectiveness, and institutional capacity were perceived by decision makers as important with regard to sustainability performance and resource management efficiency.
Key words: Green accounting / Engineering creativity / Natural resource management / Sustainable resource use / Decision infrastructure / Institutional governance capacity
