Abstract
This study investigates the application of the refraction seismic method for geophysical exploration in engineering geology. By analyzing time-distance curves generated from seismic wave propagation, we determined the stratigraphic velocity layers and structural boundaries at a highway interchange improvement project site. Two survey lines (L-1 and L-2) were established, with seismic waves generated by hammer impacts. The delay time method was employed to calculate velocity profiles, revealing four distinct layers: overburden, coarse sand with gravel, weathered rock, and interbedded sandstone-mudstone. Results demonstrate the efficacy of refraction seismography in detecting shallow stratigraphy and identifying low-velocity zones, providing critical data for engineering design and construction.
