A Study on Changes in the Landscape Pattern of the Yantai Coastal Wetlands in Laizhou Bay

Abstract
Based on the characteristics of the coastal wetlands in Yantai, Laizhou Bay, and field observations, ENVI software was utilised to conduct landscape classification and area transfer analysis on Landsat remote sensing imagery from 1984, 2005 and 2023. The results indicate that the coastal area of Yantai in Laizhou Bay generally exhibits a trend of mutual conversion between wetlands and non-wetlands, with an increase in constructed wetlands and a decrease in natural wetlands. Notably, the conversion of tidal flats into salt fields, construction land and aquaculture ponds, as well as the conversion of construction land and farmland into wetland vegetation, is particularly evident. Landscape pattern indices were analysed using ArcGIS and Fragstates software on the classified remote sensing imagery. The results indicate that, with the exception of tidal flats and bare land where landscape pattern indices declined, landscape pattern indices for all other landscapes showed an upward trend.
