Abstract
With the acceleration of China's energy structure transition and the successful completion of the “14th Five-Year Plan” targets, hydropower's position as a backbone of clean energy has been continuously strengthened. Based on the latest 2025 hydropower data and energy policies, combined with modern sediment management methods, this paper conducts an optimized evaluation of the engineering tasks, installed capacity, and operation schemes of X Hydropower Station in Southwest China. In terms of sediment siltation assessment, the SUSBED-2 one-dimensional steady non-uniform flow sediment transport model was used to compare three operation schemes. The results show that the flood season restriction water level of 1,098 m can effectively control the reservoir capacity loss rate within 44%. The study indicates that an installed capacity of 120 MW for X Hydropower Station is the optimal solution balancing economic benefits and engineering feasibility.
