Numerical analysis study using Penzien model on dynamic response of pile foundation structures in a liquefied ground

Abstract
This paper presents the results of dynamic centrifuge model tests conducted to verify the analysis program for seismic response evaluation of pile foundation structures. The model consisted of three layers: a liquefiable layer, a non-liquefiable layer, and a bearing stratum. In the numerical analysis, a Penzien-type lumped mass model was employed, which successfully reproduced the measured acceleration records. Subsequently, parametric studies were conducted on the seismic response of pile foundation structures using six actual buildings located in Nagoya and Osaka. The seismic responses were compared with and without liquefaction occurrence to investigate the effects of liquefaction on structural response. The results clarified that differences in soil stratigraphy significantly influence the dynamic response of superstructures.
