The present paper analyses the possibility of using reference wind measurements in the estimation of energy production from wind farms on less complex terrains. For the purposes of the analysis the chosen site is located about 20km from the closest point of the reference measurements. A correlation was made between the proposed data from the reference measurements and the wind parameters were extrapolated to the wind farm site. The results of the study were compared with experimental ones, while giving recommendations for refinement of the results when using reference data.
