Analyzing the sources and consequences of atmospheric pollution: A case study of the Navoi region

Atmospheric pollution is a critical issue in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan, influenced by a combination of natural and anthropogenic factors. This study aims to identify and analyze the main sources of air pollution, including emissions from industrial activities, vehicle exhaust, and dust from construction projects, along with natural contributors such as the region’s arid climate and sandy soils. A comprehensive analysis was conducted, utilizing both field measurements and data analysis, to assess the levels and sources of atmospheric pollutants. This included monitoring emissions from key industrial sources, traffic surveys for vehicle emissions, and environmental assessments for dust and particulate matter. The findings indicate that industrial emissions are the predominant source of pollution, followed by vehicle exhaust and dust from construction activities. The study also reveals that natural factors, such as the arid climate and wind-blown sand, exacerbate the pollution levels. The pollutants identified have significant impacts on local ecosystems, degrading air quality and posing serious health risks to the population, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions to reduce atmospheric pollution in the Navoi region.
