Studying the efficacy of herbicides against annual cereal and dicotyledonous weeds

The harmfulness of annual cereal weeds increases annually. In the Akmola Region, the species composition of weed vegetation, numbering many species and infesting crops, is very diverse and is represented by the following and the most common: Avena fatua (common wild oat), Echinochloa grusgalli (chicken millet), and Setaria viridis (gray mouse). High severity is also observed in lamb’s quarters (Chenopodium album), common beetle (Amaranthus retroflexus), and European stickseed (Lappula squarrosa). The evaluated herbicides include “Dezormon”, “Dezormon Efir”, “Topik”, “Ovsyugen Extra”, combined formulations like “Ovsyugen Extra + Arbalet + Liberti”, “Ester + Ovsyugen Extra”, “Megastar + Efir”, and several others, each demonstrating varying degrees of biological effectiveness, ranging from 76% to 99%. The outcomes indicate that the use of these herbicides significantly mitigates the weediness of the cereal crops, thereby enhancing the grain yield. This study provides valuable insights into the strategic application of herbicide mixtures as a sustainable solution for weed management in cereal cultivation, emphasizing the need for integrated weed control strategies to ensure agricultural sustainability and food security.
