The electricity sector has increasingly adopted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems as a renewable energy source. Concerns over the environmental impact of fossil fuels and their contribution to global warming have driven significant advancements in PV technology. Over the past two decades, solar cell technology has seen rapid development, driven by ongoing research and innovation. However, a major challenge remains in storing the energy generated by solar panels, which is where batteries play a crucial role. Batteries are essential for ensuring a consistent supply of solar energy, even when the sun isn’t shining. This paper reviews the technologies and materials involved in the production and use of solar panels and batteries, focusing on their efficiency, environmental impacts, and technological advancements.
