Digitalization of power systems can contribute to a smoother energy transition by, for example, maximizing the use of renewable energy, peak shaving, and relaxing grid congestion. Collectively, these and other benefits play an important role in creating an affordable, sustainable, and reliable supply. However, unlocking the full potential value of digitalization in the power sector requires implementing digitally enabled use-cases to support the emergence of new business models and market design, empowering customers to participate in power grid stability and sustainability, and allowing the entry of new market players. This paper proposes a framework to identify and guide the implementation of digitally enabled use-cases to meet the objectives of energy transition.
