A Scientometric Study on the Role of Resins in High-Strength Composites: Research Trends and Industrial Applications

High-strength composite advancement depends heavily on incorporating resins because they enhance mechanical strength and durability needed for industrial implementations. A systematic evaluation of resins in high-strength composites and their role and trend developments toward industrial applications and modern innovations constitutes the scope of this scientometric research. It analyzed literature accessible through Scopus database from 2015 to 2025. Keyword analysis combined with bibliographic coupling, citation distribution and global collaboration networks allowed scientists to use VOSviewer and Bibliometrix analytical tools. Research established that epoxy resin together with thermoplastic and bio-based resins show great potential to improve composite material performance across aerospace, automotive, marine and construction industries. The study demonstrated an important rise in investigations about advanced yet light-weight resin compounds that demonstrate exceptional performance while addressing environmental sustainability needs. The research field observed three main developments with polymer additive processes and biodegradable materials and combined resin approaches. The research value stems from its ability to detect vital investigation fields while recommending collaborative research between multiple fields and innovative approaches. The study demonstrates the necessity for international research partnerships especially between USA, China and India and reveals new directions that research should pursue. The research findings create an essential basis for both researchers and industrial actors who aim to create improved sustainable resin-based composites.
