Abstract
Single sign-on (SSO) and the academic information system (SIAP) mobile application are used for student academic purposes such as attendance, viewing class schedules, filling out the study plan, and registering final assignments. The problems and complaints that exist in the SIAP mobile application is ineffectiveness of user interface design of the application (such as unfamiliar appearance of the feature and error during the work) which makes it difficult to use its features and causes long duration use of the application. This impacts the energy consumption and environmental condition. The influence factors of the usability of SIAP mobile application consists of 3 variables; usability index, cognitive, and affective. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method is used to determine the effect of cognitive and affective aspects on application usability, and Usefulness, Satisfaction, and Ease of use (USE) questionnaire is used to evaluate application usability. Based on the research results, it is known that the cognitive aspect has a significant effect on the usability index. The usability of the existing mobile SIAP based on the USE questionnaire is 78.13% and it produce 154,371 kgCO2 of carbon footprint. Using cognitive-based improvement, the carbon footprint produced is decreased to 138,994 kgCO2 or 139 tonsCO2
