Indonesia’s New Capital City, Nusantara (IKN) is situated in a region prone to hydrological complexities and potential climate change impacts, effective flood management is paramount for its sustainable development and the safety of its future inhabitants. This research synthesizes existing research on various approaches, including structural measures like dams, levees, and retention ponds, alongside non-structural measures such as early warning systems, land-use planning, and community-based disaster preparedness. The principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and its applicability in designing a resilient urban environment are explored, emphasizing the interconnectedness of water systems with urban planning, infrastructure, and ecological considerations. Special attention is given to incorporating nature-based solutions (NBS), such as restoring wetlands and creating green infrastructure, which offer co-benefits like biodiversity enhancement and improved water quality. The importance of governance frameworks and stakeholder participation in ensuring the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of flood control initiatives is also considered. Ultimately, this research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of integrated flood control strategies, offering valuable insights for, urban planners, and engineers involved in the development of IKN.
