Demographic growth has led to an increase in the volume of wastewater discharged, resulting in large quantities of sludge. The objective is to optimize the purification performance through the design of an anaerobic digester and cogeneration from the sludge Melloussa wastewater treatment plant combined to the sludge from the Chrafate plant. The biogas generated was used to cogeneration (CHP) combining power supply the WWTP’s needs and heat to warm the digester. At the conclusion of this study, 100% of the electricity consumption of the Melloussa wastewater treatment plant were covered.
