Abstract
This paper presents the results of an assessment of the environmental safety of regional atmospheric air using the "Driving Forces - Pressure - State - Impact - Response" model for a key resource-extracting region - the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra (Russia). A system of indicators was developed for this model, taking into account the characteristics of the region's development and its environmental environment in the study area, the purpose and needs of the model itself, as well as the experience accumulated in previous studies on similar issues. A method for weighing the information entropy of the model indicators was used to evaluate their weighting coefficients. The identification of model indicators that hinder the improvement of the environmental safety of atmospheric air in the region was carried out using a model for assessing their levels of significance. An index for assessing the environmental safety of regional atmospheric air is proposed, the calculated values of which characterize the level of safety of this resource from "fairly safe" to "generally safe" from 2013 to 2022. Indicators hindering improvements in the environmental safety of atmospheric air in the region have been identified. These include air pollution from mobile sources (such as transport), air pollution levels in the region's cities, and indicators of the negative impact of pollution on the region's population. Using this set of models and methods, it is possible to monitor the environmental safety of its natural resources at the regional level by assessing their level of safety, while identifying indicators—factors that negatively impact human activity in the region—on the state of these resources.
