Abstract
This article introduces the proceedings of the DEVPORT 2026 International Conference, Ports and Maritime Transport in Transitions: Innovations, Territories and Challenges, held in Le Havre (France) on 27–29 May 2026. Continuing the long-standing tradition of the DEVPORT conference series, this 5th edition brought together twenty-one contributions from scholars based in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. The papers collected in this volume address the ports and maritime transport from six interrelated angles:
Digitalization, Smart Ports & Supply Chain Resilience;
Geopolitics, Security & Global Trade Reconfigurations;
Hinterland Connectivity, Inland Waterways & Regional Logistics;
Innovation & Transition: Redefining Port Paradigms;
Green Shipping & Environmental Port Governance;
Social Dynamics, Gender & Coastal Communities
Read together, they offer a wide-ranging and timely portrait of a sector that is being reshaped, simultaneously and unevenly, by geopolitics, energy transition and digital innovation.
