Gasoline engines are characterized by high power density and low fuel efficiency. Diesels, on the contrary, have high fuel efficiency, but low specific power. A promising (unified) workflow should combine the best qualities of gasoline engines and diesel engines and work on the entire existing range of fuels produced for them. This will make it possible to switch to a single unified fuel, including fractions of modern commercial fuels, which will significantly reduce the energy intensity and cost of their production.
