The article examines the current and practically significant task of managing the reliability of agricultural machinery used in the production activities of Russian Federation penal system institutions. A model for optimal management of technical maintenance and repairs of technical equipment is proposed in order to increase their reliability. Additionally, the necessary optimality conditions for solving the optimization problem under consideration are formulated. An algorithm for the numerical solution of the formulated optimal control problem has been developed, and the results of testing the implemented algorithm are presented. The implementation of the proposed approach in the form of an automated decision support system serves to solve the problem of increasing the operational reliability of vehicles used in agricultural activities of correctional institutions.
